AUTOCAD 2016 STARTS AND THEN STOPS WITH OR WITHOUT AN ERROR


1.1          Try upgrading video driver

Sep 30 2015 When launching AutoCAD 2016, the program suddenly stops loading with no error or may show a message similar to the following:  FATAL ERROR: Unhandled Access Violation Reading 0x0018 Exception at 723ea3e3h

1.2          Causes:  Incompatible graphics card driver.  Enter the /nohardware switch to test the behavior:

1.         Right-click the AutoCAD program icon on your desktop

2.         Click "Properties"

3.         Access the "Shortcut" tab

4.         In the "Target" field, after acad.exe" type a space and then /NOHARDWARE

5.         Click "OK" and start the program
If this works to get AutoCAD running, then update your graphics card driver and remove the /NOHARDWARE switch. If it still fails to launch, you may need to completely remove and reinstall your graphics driver and/or reset AutoCAD to defaults (see How to reset AutoCAD to defaults).
